HITECH ASSETS, INC. BECOMES R2/RIOS CERTIFIED
First in State, Sixth in Nation
OKLAHOMA CITY (November 3, 2010) – HiTech Assets, Inc., headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is one of the nation’s leading electronics recyclers and IT asset disposition (ITAD) providers. HiTech announced today its OKC facility has achieved the R2/RIOS certification.
The R2 (Responsible Recycling) certification, is a set of comprehensive practices for electronics recyclers facilitated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). RIOS (Recycling Industry Operating Standard) is designed to help recycling companies manage the quality, environmental health and safety issues within the company. Achieving this certification makes HiTech the sixth certified electronics recycler® in the United States and the first in Oklahoma.
“The R2/RIOS certification and its resulting status as a Certified Electronics Recycler® is the most significant event in our company history,” Lane Epperson, president of HiTech, said. “This certification is the highest recognition that a company in our industry can be awarded. It would be hard to overestimate the importance of this achievement. We are proud to be the first electronics recycler in Oklahoma to earn this distinction and one in only a handful of companies throughout the country.”
The R2/RIOS standard gives HiTech a competitive advantage over other recycling operations and helps increase client confidence in the quality of our processes. We exercise due diligence by verifying the usage of qualified vendors and suppliers to ensure responsible recycling throughout the downstream recycling chain.
HiTech Assets, Inc. is a fully integrated ITAD solution provider. We have continually positioned ourselves to be a ‘one-stop’ source for end-of-life computer services. We eliminate client risks by providing the highest standards in certified data security, regulatory compliance and environmental policies. HiTech technicians wipe data from all drives and destroy those that are defective and cannot be erased. As part of our environmental stewardship, HiTech maintains a strict zero landfill policy for all used electronics.
