Another important service that HiTech provides is efficient data destruction and data security. We are on the cutting edge of technology in this area and are members of the National Association of Information Destruction. Our data wiping solution consists of extremely effective and efficient elements including the industry standard NIST 800-88 which includes a DOD 5220.22M three pass wiping method. The entire data destruction processes is handled by certified data destruction technicians. Every data bearing asset is carefully tracked in our system from receipt to final disposition, and certificates of data destruction are issued and signed by the technician and their supervisor. Any data bearing device or removable media that cannot be wiped will be physically destroyed in our on-site shredder. HiTech Assets currently has the resources to simultaneously wipe approximately 500 SCSI server drives, 200 IDE and SATA PC drives and 80 Laptop drives. This ability greatly reduces costs involved with this process and ultimately saves our clients money.

HiTech Assets performs internal and external verification of wiping process. The internal verification consists of two random drives per week to be sector scanned using FTK (Forensic Tool Kit) for verification of the wiping process. The external verification consists of two random drives being selected each month to be sent to a third party for forensic analysis and detailed result reports are supplied to HiTech upon completion.
