To ensure that hard drives are properly sanitized and erased to the most stringent standards, Hitech Assets utilizes cutting edge technology and certified wiping Technicians. Our hard drive erasure process is designed to ensure your company’s safety through 100% data eradication, to meet and exceed the Department of Defense directive 5220.22-M and National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication 800-88.

Certificates of data erasure and destruction are provided for each asset and are signed by the technician performing the wipe as well as their supervisor.

Hard Drive destruction occurs if a hard drive fails our stringent erasure protocol or is pre-determined to be below current thresholds for remarketable technology. Hard drive serial numbers are recorded prior to shredding, and certificates of destruction are issued for a client’s permanent records. For maximum data security all shredding is conducted on site with our commercial grade shredder.

To ensure the highest level of quality, all hard drives are audited for successful erasure, with random samples removed for internal audits using forensic tools. Additionally monthly random sampling is conducted and drives are sent to a third-party audit firm to conduct a forensic audit to ensure proper hard drive erasure.
